$30,000 Goal
For more than two decades, Journey to Dream has walked alongside young people navigating some of life’s most painful realities abuse, neglect, homelessness, and deep trauma. Across Denton, Dallas, and Tarrant Counties, the organization has become a steady, compassionate presence for youth who have too often been unseen, unheard, and unsupported.
In Denton County alone, more than 2,400 youth were reported homeless in a single month. Each number represents a young person with a name, a story, and a future hanging in the balance youth sleeping in cars, moving from couch to couch, or enduring unsafe environments because they have nowhere else to go.
Journey to Dream was created to interrupt that reality and over the years, it has done just that. Through intentional growth and innovation, the organization has developed a continuum of care designed to meet youth where they are and walk with them toward stability, healing, and independence.
At the center of this work is Kyle’s Place, the region’s only 24/7 emergency shelter and transitional living program for teens. More than just a bed, Kyle’s Place is a refuge—a place where youth are met with safety, consistency, and care. Here, they receive comprehensive support including case management, trauma-informed counseling, educational assistance, and life skills development. Just as importantly, they are surrounded by adults who believe in them, often for the first time.
Expanding beyond shelter, Journey to Dream launched the Dream Initiative, a school-based intervention program designed to identify and support vulnerable youth before they reach a crisis point. Through this initiative, trained staff work directly within schools to provide early intervention, crisis response, mentorship, and connections to critical resources. The Dream Initiative has transformed how communities respond to youth in distress—shifting from reactive to proactive care, ensuring students experiencing abuse, self-harm, housing instability, or emotional crisis are not left to navigate those challenges alone.
Together, these programs represent more than services they are interventions that change trajectories. They stabilize youth in moments of crisis, strengthen protective factors, and create pathways to long-term success.
Jennifer’s story is one of many that bring this mission to life.
At just 14 years old, Jennifer arrived at Kyle’s Place after fleeing a home marked by abuse and neglect. Withdrawn and guarded, she carried a deep sense of worthlessness, believing she was destined to repeat the cycles she had known.
But within the walls of Kyle’s Place, something began to shift.
Through consistent support, trauma-informed care, and meaningful relationships, Jennifer slowly began to trust again. She engaged with her case managers, opened up in counseling, and started to set goals for herself—something she had never felt safe enough to do before.
With time, encouragement, and access to the right interventions, Jennifer rediscovered her voice. She began to see her own potential.
Today, she is a high school graduate preparing to enter college the first in her family to do so.
Her journey is not just a story of survival; it is a testament to what becomes possible when a young person is given safety, support, and someone who refuses to give up on them.
And Jennifer is not alone. Every day, Journey to Dream is creating outcomes like hers through shelter, through early intervention, and through a deep commitment to walking alongside youth every step of the way.
But this work does not happen in isolation. It is fueled by a community of supporters who choose to stand in the gap.
Your partnership makes it possible to say “yes” when a young person needs a safe place to sleep, a meal, a counselor, or simply someone who will listen. It ensures that youth can remain in their schools, stay connected to their support systems, and begin to imagine a future beyond survival.
It allows Journey to Dream to continue expanding innovative programs like the Dream Initiative, strengthening interventions, and reaching youth earlier—before crisis becomes catastrophe.
Together, we are doing more than meeting immediate needs. We are restoring hope, rebuilding lives, and creating lasting change.
Because when one young person is given the chance to heal, to grow, and to dream again, the impact extends far beyond a single life—it transforms families, communities, and generations to come.
