WHO WE SERVE

Ascend Dallas works with an average of 2,700 clients a year, 93 percent of whom are women of color and 79 percent of whom earn less than $38,000 a year.

WHAT WE DO

Established in 1908 as the YWCA, Ascend Dallas has been serving women for 116 years with free services to help navigate periods of change, including first-time pregnancies and financial crises. Ascends’ dedicated staff oversees two primary programs: Economic Advancement and Nurse-Family Partnership.

The Economic Advancement (EA) program empowers clients to achieve financial stability by focusing on reducing debt, increasing savings, and improving credit scores. In partnership with the City of Dallas, Ascend established three Financial Empowerment Centers in areas with some of the highest concentrations of poverty in the nation, demonstrating a commitment to tackling barriers to equity.

Ascends' Nurse-Family Partnership (NFP) is a vital service that addresses health and poverty for children and first-time mothers by providing continuous, comprehensive care from dedicated Registered Nurses beginning during pregnancy through the first two years of the baby’s life.

• $250 – Provides 1 home -visit to a first-time mom with a registered nurse
• $500 - Provides essential baby care packages for 5 first-time moms and their babies
• $1,000 – Helps keep crucial services going through general operating fund- from the event card
• $2,500 – Covers transportation costs for 6 registered nurses to visit first-time moms they serve
• $5,000 – Provides career training and coaching for 10 women
