The Art Station opened its doors in 2003 with the goal to provide Art Therapy to the North Texas community and to make these services available to all regardless of ability to pay. With this underlying principle, the agency has served over 40,349 clients in those 20 years. On going mental health challenges continue to grow within our community due to many factors such as the pandemic, economic uncertainty, housing and job insecurities. These challenges can bring forth problems like depression, anxiety, family conflicts, serious illness, behavioral issues and feelings around  grief/loss. Any of these mental health issues can interfere with education performance and goals, job performance and absenteeism, family relationships, social integration and physical well being.

The Art Station is a rare resource in North Texas because it offers a unique experiential approach to therapy. Our therapists are specialized counselors with dual master-level education, training and licensing in both counseling and art therapy. This specialized approach has been shown to be highly effective by supporting clients as they develop a visual language within a safe environment that expresses inner thoughts and feelings. This intervention is effective for children, teens and adults. The Art Therapy process helps to provide clarity, encourage problem solving and builds self-esteem. In addition to individual, family and group therapy sessions, The Art Station creates and provides specialty programs such as the Teachers’ Self-Care Workshops, Cancer Support Groups, and Veteran Art Therapy Groups.

Each year we work with thousands of individuals in our building as well as partnering with other organizations to provide art therapy at their program sites.  Since opening our doors almost 20 years ago, we have served more than 40,349 clients.
